# Shopify: How to activate M:AI search bar LIVE in your theme?

# Configure a live store

**Before adding M:AI Search app to a live store, it’s possible to first [duplicate your current theme](#2-duplicate-your-theme) and then add M:AI Search app to the copied theme. This lets you preview changes, tweak your site’s CSS, and test that everything is working correctly.**

## Go LIVE - enable M:AI Search on your published theme

|| You can always use the PREVIEW mode, but if you want to go LIVE this step is mandatory.
**You need to enable the M:AI Search app in your theme to activate it.**

### Enable the app

1. Click the button “ **Enable the 'M:AI Search' app in the current theme**”.

2. You’re redirected to the theme customizer.
    If needed, click the **App embeds** icon to see the app.

3. Switch on **M:AI Search** to enable it for the theme.

4. Click **Save** on the right-hand side to save your theme

5. To view your theme, click the ... dots and then **View**.

### You're done!

**The installation is complete. Your ecommerce website now has an intelligent AI search from M:AI that greatly improves your online store.**

## Duplicate your theme

|| FAQ: This step is optional. It’s possible, but not necessary, to make a copy of your current theme to keep it intact. However, [enabling the M:AI Search app is mandatory](#2-enable-mai-search-on-your-published-theme).

1. [Duplicate your theme](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/themes/managing-themes/duplicating-themes). The copy is added to your **Theme library.**

2. When the duplication is complete, **publish the duplicated theme.**
    Now your original theme is saved if you want to go back to it later.
