Products: Edit a product > Variants (Part 1/2)
P.S. We describe the Premium plan unless otherwise specified.
If you have variants of your products, they are displayed at the bottom of the edit product page:

Variants can be searched for and filtered in the list.
Columns can be dragged and dropped in a different order and hidden or displayed.
How to drag-and-drop columns, use filters and search lists →
Add new variants, or edit or delete existing variants:

If you've clicked "+ Add variant" in the product list, you'll see this page:

To add a new variant, find the section named "Variants" and simply type the variant name you want, i.e. Color, Pattern, Length, etc., in the variant name field.
Click "+ Add 'Pattern'" or whichever value you entered

This window is displayed with the variant name. Add additional languages if needed.
Select which type of variant this is; in our case, "Pattern" will consist of External images.
Change the layout to checkboxes, external images, color, and button. See layout types →
Click "Create" when you're done:

Now that the variant named "Pattern" is created, let's create some values:

We will add "Squares" as our first value.
Click "+ Add 'Squares'" or whichever value you entered:

This window is displayed, and since we've selected "External images" as our variant type, you need to enter the URL for the image that looks like the pattern of "Squares".
Also, add additional languages if needed.
Click "Create" when you're done:

Now we've created a variant called "Pattern" with one value called "Squares".
You may edit the variant's name or its values with the pen-icon:

We've created our first variant template with the variant name "Pattern" and only one variant value, "Squares".
Now you may add additional information to the variant, such as stock status, stock quantity, image URL for the specific variant, SKU, EAN, pricing per currency (both regular price and sale price), etc.
If this variant value "Squares" has a unique URL, it's optional to add a "Url to variant". Otherwise, the variant will inherit the product's URL.
The same applies to price; if the price is not set, this variant value will inherit its parent product's price.
It's also possible to set the visibility of this product variant to Visible or Hidden (OFF).
Whether this variant's price includes taxes or VAT in %, is controlled by the parent product.
All fields are optional except the two fields in "Variants" that are mandatory.
Click "Create" to create your first variant value called "Squares", including all its data!

Now we've returned to the product, and if we scroll down to "Variants on this product", we'll see that a variant value is created called "Squares":

A) If you want to save the product with one variant value, scroll back up to the product and click "Update" to save the product:

B) If you want to add a second variant value to the product, then continue with this guide to part 2/2 by following the link below:
