All metafields are automatically retrieved from your Shopify store and can be used as product filters if you choose to.

Products > Metafields

Currently, metafields are exclusively supported on Shopify's platform. In WooCommerce, the equivalent feature is product attributes. We aim to introduce this functionality in Q4 of 2025.

Below is a list of each metafield and its type as found in Shopify:

Metafields in Shopify are limited to a single language. However, in M:AI Search, you can add a name and description for each language.

You can also change the type to Color, but this option is only available if the metafield is set as Color in Shopify. Otherwise, you can only choose Checkboxes or Button

Layout > Filter settings

All your metafields appear as product filters and can be set to ON or OFF. The default is OFF, and when the metafield filter is off, it is red.

If you choose to enable it as a filter, it turns green:

To enable it, click the pen icon on the right side and set Enabled to ON. Then, save your changes.

Metafields used as filters in the storefront

In this example, we have two metafields: Snowboard Length and Snowboard Binding Mount.
One is configured as "Checkboxes," while the other is set as a "Button." You can also use the type "Color" for metafields.
